At St Mary’s, we are committed to living out the Gospel call to love and serve others. Inspired by Catholic Social Teaching, we encourage all members of our school community to recognise the dignity of every person, care for creation, show solidarity with those in need and work for the common good.
Pupils play an active role in promoting social justice through the work of pupil leadership groups, including the Messengers of Christ, School Council and Eco Committee. Through prayer, action and service, pupils are encouraged to respond to local, national and global needs, putting their faith into action and developing as compassionate agents of change.
Throughout the year, the school supports a range of charitable initiatives and community projects. These may include supporting local families, foodbanks and community organisations, fundraising for Catholic charities such as CAFOD and Mission Together, responding to emergency appeals, caring for the environment and raising awareness of issues affecting vulnerable and marginalised people.
Through these experiences, pupils are encouraged to reflect on the needs of others, recognise their responsibility towards God’s creation and develop a lifelong commitment to justice, peace and service in accordance with the mission and values of the Catholic Church.

CAFOD family fast and Soup and Solidarity lunch, visiting our local care homes, celebrating and fundraising for Children In Need, Recycling and donating clothing to Dragon Bags, Harvest food bank collections and taking part in a whole school and staff Big Lent Walk
