Assemblies and Gatherings

Our whole school family gathers regularly for assemblies and for prayer and liturgical celebrations. These occasions provide valued opportunities to come together in faith, reflect on Gospel values, celebrate achievements and strengthen the sense of belonging within our school community. Prayer forms an integral part of all assemblies and gatherings.

Pupils are encouraged to take an active role in planning and leading assemblies and celebrations, supported by staff and pupil leadership groups, where appropriate. Assemblies may reflect the liturgical year, school priorities, Welsh language and culture, charitable initiatives and the wider life of the school.

Parents, carers and family members are invited to participate in appropriate celebrations throughout the year.

Opportunities are also provided to recognise and celebrate pupils’ achievements, contributions to school life, positive behaviour, attendance and personal successes. These celebrations help to foster a culture of encouragement, gratitude and community.

Gatherings may take place with the whole school community, key phases, year groups or classes, according to the needs of the school and the nature of the celebration. All assemblies and gatherings contribute to the spiritual, moral, cultural and community life of our school and support the Catholic mission and ethos of St Mary’s.
