St Mary’s maintains strong and active links with the parishes served by our school. We recognise parents and parish communities as the first educators of children in the faith and work in partnership to support their spiritual development and sacramental journey.
Preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion is undertaken through parish catechetical programmes, with the school supporting and celebrating this important stage in each child’s faith journey. Information regarding sacramental preparation is shared with families, and parish events and opportunities are promoted through the school whenever appropriate.
Each year, we celebrate and recognise those pupils who have received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion, giving thanks for this important milestone in their lives. Around the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, the school community gathers for Mass, during which children who have recently made their First Holy Communion are invited to take a special role in the celebration. This joyful occasion strengthens the bonds between home, school and parish, celebrates the children’s continuing faith journey and affirms our shared commitment to nurturing them in the Catholic faith.
